Former Arsenal player turn football pundit Martin Keown has revealed that Manchester united manager Jose Mourinho’s treatment towards some first team players has created some problems in the dressing room at Old Trafford according to reports in the Daily Mail.
Jose Mourinho since he arrived at Old Trafford hasn’t been scared of criticizing his players in public and the Portuguese boss was recently blasted for his unfair remarks about red devils defender Luke Shaw during Manchester United’s 3-1 defeat to Watford back in September.
The Portuguese tactician has also been criticized by the media following his harsh treatment and remarks towards German legend Bastian Schweinsteiger, French attacker Anthony Martial and Manchester United’s summer signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan since he took over as manager at Old Trafford.
However, Martin Keown has criticized the 53-year old for his poor management claiming that he has let some of his players down publicly and that has become a major embarrassment for the players.
Martin Keown told Daily Mail:
“Anthony Martial has been frustrated so far because of his poor relationship with Jose Mourinho and the same has happened with Luke Shaw and Schweinsteiger. I think Mourinho should create a decent relationship with his players and give them more playing time. Martial proved himself against West Ham and I think Shaw and Bastian and should be playing too”.
Martin Keown’s comments made a lot of sense considering the fact that publicly condemning a player is a criminal and counter-productive act in English football but red devils manager Jose Mourinho doesn’t believe in such ideology. The Portuguese tactician has won trophies in different leagues and he won’t hesitate when it comes to identifying a player’s mistake.
