Solskjaer not happy with win over Reading- reason will surprise you.

It was an easy game for United when they faced Reading in the FA cup 3rd round and the result also suggests so. However caretaker manager feels his team performance was not to the standard he has expected against their opponent.

United won the game 2-0 but Solksjaer expected more from his players in terms of goals and team play.  He however blames himself.

The Red Devils came out top in terms of result but the championship side had more possession, 60%, which was not too good for a club like United to cede possession. The way Solksjaer wants his team to play, he wants to keep more of the possession everytime and want his players to adapt to this.

In an interview with BBC Sport after the game, he admitted that it was mainly due to the changes in the starting eleven

“There were nine changes,” said Solskjaer. “It’s never easy to get the rhythm and the tempo and the relations because they take a touch and then look at each other, they’re not used to playing with together.

“Even though we train together it’s different when you’re out there at Old Trafford. So, that was down to me a bit and again I need to see them out there to see how they reaction when we concede a goal. We struggled today but we came through.

More of the youngsters got their chance to play in the game and the senior team players that started were just returning to full first team actions- Sanchez and Lukaku. This was a major factor in how they kept the possession.

It is now time for United to start preparing for their game against Tottenham in the premier league next week. Solksjaer will have his hands filled has he will have to adopt a tactics to beat their rivals after United lost the first leg at Old Trafford, 3-0 and will now travel to Wembley to play Spurs.
