Manchester united manager Rui Faria has revealed that Manchester united played an excellent game and did more than enough to grab the maximum points against West Ham at Old Trafford on Sunday following the red devils 1-1 draw according to reports in the Squawka.
Manchester united were in high spirits before the game with West Ham following an impressive 4-0 victory over Dutch club Feyenoord on Thursday night in the Europa league campaign and Jose Mourinho was desperate to get a win as the tough winter schedule in the premier league edges closer.
Manchester united had settled for a draw in four of their previous six top flight games before the encounter with the hammers at Old Trafford and the red devils began the game on a poor note when West Ham’s Diafra Sakho handed the visitors the lead two minutes after kick off but Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovich grabbed the equalizer for Manchester united nineteen minutes later as Manchester united continued to dominate the game.
Jose Mourinho got dismissed to the stands again following his reaction after Frenchman Paul Pogba received a yellow card for diving as Manchester united failed to take their chances and assistant manager Rui Faria took charge in the Portuguese absence before admitting that they deserved to get the three points at the end of the game.
Rui Faria is quoted as saying by the Squawka:
“We played in an impressive and comfortable way and we did more than enough to get the win but we didn’t and the truth is we are playing very well. The players are playing according to instructions but the goals are not coming. We are suffering because we know it is important to win games”.
Manchester united currently sits in the sixth position of the premier league table scoring 18 goals and conceding 15 goals in their first 13 games. They have recorded a shot accuracy of 47% and are eight points behind Arsenal who are in the fourth position of the premier league.
