Reports in Manutd.com has disclosed that Manchester united manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that French attacker Anthony Martial is still adapting to his style of play following rumors that the young attacker is suffering from a ‘second season syndrome’.
The 20-year old French attacker moved to Manchester united under former red devils boss Louis Van Gaal last season and had an impressive debut campaign scoring in his first game for Manchester united against fierce rivals Liverpool and went on to grab 17 goals in all competitions.
However, Anthony Martial who has been deployed on the left wing has started nine games and also made four substitute appearances for the Portuguese tactician this season as well as scoring twice and speaking after the red devils 4-0 victory over Feyenoord, Jose Mourinho claimed the French man missed the game because he is still adjusting and also hinted that the way Manchester united played last season is very different from the way they play now.
Jose Mourinho said:
“Maybe Martial is okay playing the way he did last season with the rhythm, circulation and intensity of the ball so I believe he needs more time. I am not saying we are playing better now but the way we play now is very different compared to last season”.
However, Jose Mourinho also hinted that a lot of players are also competing for the attacking positions with the likes of Juan Mata, Memphis Depay, Marcus Rashford, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Jesse Lingard all eager to impress in their attacking roles. The Portuguese tactician claimed that if a player fails to impress, there are several players who are waiting to grab the opportunity.
