Red devils defender Phil Jones was excited about his return to playing for Manchester united in Sunday’s 3-1 win over Swansea.
Phil Jones who last played for the red devils in a home victory over the Swansea team back in January was given a place in United’s starting eleven at the liberty stadium and the defender had an impressive game in defence as Manchester united walked away with three points.
Speaking to MUTV after the game, the defender described his spell on the sidelines as a ‘nightmare’ but insists he is determined on improving and fighting for a regular shirt under Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho.
Phil Jones is quoted as saying by MUTV:
“I’m happy to be back. The past few months have been difficult,
watching the team play and not being able to play was difficult but
I felt good playing today. Being on the sidelines was a nightmare for
me but i remained focus and never gave up. I’ve been working hard to
return and feature in games like this because that is what I like to do
and if the manager considers me fit enough to play and do a good job
for him, then I’m happy to be playing again”.
Manchester united secured an important away win over the Swansea team thanks to three first half goals from Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovich and Phil Jones described Sunday’s victory as one of the red devils most impressive game this season but also stated it’s necessary Manchester united continue improving and continue winning when premier league action resumes after the international break.
