Manchester united defender Daley Blind has admitted that the red devils had a great performance against the Burnley team but the Dutchman revealed he is still shocked united failed to score.
Jose Mourinho’s men registered 37 shots in the game against Burnley, the highest number of shots in any premier league game but failed to beat Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton.
Speaking to Manchester united TV, Daley Blind said; “We had a lot of chances but we failed to score and that helped Heaton gain some confidence. Heaton is a good goalkeeper but we should have at least gotten a goal”.
Manchester united won 72% of the possession and the Daley Blind insists the red devils could have done more to secure victory over the visitors.
“We had a positive performance and we played with a lot of energy. We did well in defence and didn’t give them any chance too. We created a lot of chances, played a high level of attacking football and I believe that’s what the fans want to see. The only frustrating thing about the game was our inability to score goals”.
Daley Blind praised his teammates for their spirit when Ander Herrera picked up a red card in the 68th minute and united had to play with 10 men. “It’s always difficult to play with 10 men but we still managed it. While we played with 10 men, Burnley still defended a lot because we kept on attacking”.
The Dutchman described the draw against Burnley as ‘one of those games’ and hinted that the team has more work to do and hopefully get a positive result in their next premier league game.
