Manchester united and Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera has opened up on his partnership with fellow united teammate Paul Pogba this season and the Spaniard has admitted to enjoying his new role as the team’s defensive midfielder since it allows the Frenchman to initiate attacks for United.
Herrera started alongside the Frenchman in Manchester United’s premier league matches against Leicester city and Stoke city.
In the games against Leicester city and Stoke city Paul Pogba played ahead of the Spaniard in a midfield trio also comprising of Juan Mata but in United’s first game of the season,
Herrera played a deep-lying position with Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini in a midfield duo but the Spaniard seems more comfortable playing in a midfield comprising of three players than two.
27year old Ander Herrera could play for the Spanish national team for the first time and has hinted that Manchester united teammate Michael Carrick is his source of inspiration in the midfield role.
“It’s going fine. I have a great example in Michael Carrick because he is one of the best midfielders in the last decade to play in that position and I have a lot to learn from him too”…said the Spaniard.
Speaking about Paul Pogba, Herrera described the Frenchman as a physical and very strong player that loves to shoot with both legs.
“Paul can defend and he can dribble too…he has it all. I can help the team win possession and initiate attacks and I’ll also try to do whatever the manager requires of me”.
